In touch with nature

29 Apr 2012

Sunday drive to the beach and my first photography lesson with an SLR camera. Great way to end the week, as well as collect a few pieces of inspiration for a surface pattern design course I’m embarking on at the moment. Hopefully these little gems will turn into designs one day. Will keep you posted!

Tropical Adventure

12 Apr 2012

Well, for those who know me, you won’t be surprised to hear that I’ve moved again (hence my long absence)! Looking back over the years, I’ve worked out I’ve moved houses every 6-18 months since I was 17. Sound exhausting? I can tell you now, it doesn’t get easier!

The good news is, my boyfriend and I have moved to the tropics, to my home town Cairns. It’s a huge move, but something we’ve been thinking about doing for a couple of years. So, with the amazing support of family, we’re living out of everyone’s pockets whilst we madly save for our first home. I didn’t think I would be this excited about buying a home, but studying the local property guide on Saturday mornings is a real thrill! I’ve even re-joined the library and maxed out my borrow limit with interior design books. Good times!

And to help adjust to the tropical climate, I discovered this amazing print in the Suno Resort collection. I love it!

Chocolate lovers

19 Jan 2012

This week has been one of those weeks I can safely say, I deserve a lot of chocolate. Especially if it looks as good as Mast Brothers Chocolate, I love the packaging! Yum!

Sweet Saturday

22 Oct 2011

Still loving the feeling of spring, this pretty pattern was inspired by – believe it or not – a weed in my backyard. It looked way too good to be a weed, so I happily spent an afternoon neglecting my normal garden duties to give this unwanted plant a little attention it deserved. As I was creating this pattern, I found one of the most gorgeous photographs by Lukasz Pukowiec in an exclusive photoshoot he did for Fashion Gone Rogue. Put it all together and wa-la – something sweet to brighten your weekend!

One of my favourite textile designers, Catherine Hammerton, creates beautiful home accessories and wallpaper. Using a combination of antique embellishments from markets, screen printing, stamps, original love letters and fabrics – there’s a wonderful vintage, decadent look and feel about her work. No two pieces are the same.
